Our Programs

The Mission of the Clay County Communities Revitalization Association (CCCRA) is to stimulate economic growth, promote the assets, and preserve the heritage of Clay County.

CCCRA has four key areas of focus:

Preservation
Beal Center Exterior 004.jpg
Historic Clay County Courthouse

Thanks to donors, volunteers, fundraisers and grants, the "Heart of Hayesville", the circa 1888 Historic Clay County Courthouse, was saved and carefully restored by CCCRA. Rededicated in July 2018 as the Beal Center, the icon of Hayesville/Clay County, owned by the Town of Hayesville, is now operated by CCCRA as a unique community and event venue.  Visit www.BealCenter.org to learn more about visiting or renting this beautiful venue.

12 Herbert Street

Number 12 Herbert St., Hayesville, Clay County, NC. was 1940 by Wiley McGlamery and housed a hotel and café. In the fall of 2024, CCCRA purchased the long vacant building on the corner of Herbert Street and Business 64, across from the Historic Courthouse/Beal Center. Made possible by a restricted donation from Clay County native Ron Beal, the building will undergo a complete restoration, and will house a boutique hotel and retail space.

Cherokee Culture

Key to preserving the heritage of Clay County, is preserving the Cherokee history.  CCCRA developed and maintains key Cherokee heritage sites in Hayesville, NC: The Cherokee Homestead Exhibit, the Quanassee Path, Spikebuck Mound and the Cherokee Botanical Sanctuary.  CCCRA hosts the annual Cherokee Festival, and provides education programs and workshops for children of all ages.

CCCRA's Trails and Greenways program develops and promotes a hiking and mountain biking trail system that encourages tourism while protecting the natural environment.  In partnership with the USFS and the SABA, the 20-mile Jackrabbit Mountain Trail System is a treasured asset of Clay County, and favorite local for families and avid bikers alike.

Community Outreach

CCCRA sponsors community events, including the Summer Concert Series on the historic town square/courthouse grounds, the 2017 Solar Feast in celebration of Hayesville being on 100% totality centerline of the Total Eclipse.  Working in collaboration with other Clay County non-profits and organizations, we look for opportunities to grow Clay County's economy and improve the quality of life.
